Anton Yelchin

AGE: 22. PROVENANCE: St. Petersburg, Russia. DRIVEN, AT WARP SPEED: Yelchin first made an impression, in 2001, as the boy lead holding his own opposite Anthony Hopkins in Hearts in Atlantis By 2009, however, he had rocketed to Hollywood near ubiquity, most notably with roles in two massively big-budget sci-fi tent poles: Star Trek (as Mr. Chekov!) and Terminator Salvation. "When I was growing up, my parents tried all sorts of sports on me, and I just wasn't into it," he says. "I started working at age nine. I have always focused on my work—that's just kind of my life." AND MORE REASONS TO BE SANGUINE ABOUT IT: In August he starred in the vampire thriller Fright Night with Colin Farrell, and next month he tugs the heartstrings in Drake Doremus's indie love story Like Crazy, which won this year's Sundance Grand Jury Prize, BEFORE RETURNING TO THE STARSHIP ENTERPRISE... ANYTHIN G ELSE? "I was going to go to U.S.C. and study political theory," he says. "But I really love movies. They're pretty much my favorite things, so I figured I would just keep doing this."
