EVA SCRIVO'S NEW SALON ON BOND

Eva Scrivo has come a long way from cutting people’s hair in her East Village living room. The hairstylist, colorist, and makeup artist has turned herself into an artfully layered brand. Her new salon, at 50 Bond Street in Manhattan, which opened this spring, is a modern, elegant addition to the rapidly chic-ifying block, where Ian Schrager’s Herzog & de Meuron building will soon be joined by the likes of Dries Van Noten. Upstairs, beneath 1950s Venini chandeliers, Scrivo and her staff practice her trademark dry-wet “uncut,” balayage, color, and makeup application in the beauty boutique, while downstairs, treatment rooms offer facials, private pedicures, acupuncture, muscletoning acufacials, and reflexology. “So much about beauty starts from within,” says the radiant Scrivo. “We look at beauty as a whole, and at each woman as an individual.” The well-rounded stylist, who also designs and sells hair accessories upstairs, hosts her weekly show, Beauty Talk, on Martha Stewart’s Sirius channel Tuesday afternoons at four. And this month, Scrivo will move her five-yearold Hudson Street salon to a new light and airy space, on West 13th Street.
