Bomb Squad
When it first appeared, nearly seven years ago, many thought that Bomb was just the kind of oversize art magazine best consigned to the proverbial coffee table. But over the years, Bomb has proven itself to be one publication truly committed to showcasing the best in new visual art, short fiction, performance art, and film—and all this without the high-powered critical hype or dub-scene charades that its imitators have often fallen back on. Indeed, the small quarterly (circulation: 10,000) has inspired so many imitators that the proliferation of Bomb-ettes (highbrow, arty journals of varying degrees Qf success and sophistication) has reached dangerous levels. At right, some of the Bomb-shelled.
