Forget King Charles spaniels. Society's dog of choice is the Jack Russell terrier. The posh Millbrook Hunt hosted a "Terrier Ball'' the eve of its fourth annual terrier trials. Chairman Mrs. Lawrence Shapiro stood at the door handing out homemade Jack Russell masks to hunt-country haughties like the Oakleigh B. Thornes, the Winston Regans, the Frank Gilligans, and the Donald Tobers (he markets Sweet 'n Low). Jeweler's wife CeCe Kieselstein-Cord came in a cow mask, for some reason. The next day le tout Hudson Valley, including Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr., cheered the tiny terriers through their paces.
